For this orchid, I blended elements from Phalaenopsis wilsonii with the colors of Phalaenopsis lowii. The aerial roots are my favorite part.
The flower itself if entirely paper - when it’s done, I find a ceramic vase that complements it.
You can pull and twist the blossoms into different shapes.
Paper Orchids
Sculpting the orchids allows me to appreciate their structure in detail.
I use mineral pigments for some of the subtle blended colors in the blossoms.
